Without question, the walks
and play sessions are my
most favorite time. If it's
appropriate, I take my
young charge to Radnor
Lake...and if we're really
lucky, we get to practice
"being calm and not barking
at deer."
Services
Board & Train services are available for dogs up to
30 lbs. Board & Train provides breathing room for
both you and your dog--it's an opportunity for both
of you to change your behaviors to make your life
together much more manageable and enjoyable.
Your dog stays in my home for an agreed period of
time (usually 7-10 days--sometimes less), and
works with me and my dogs (and cat) on specific
behaviors several times each day. In addition, you
receive an intensive one-on-one training session at
my home. This way, you will be able to continue the
program I've put in place with your dog as soon as
you return home!
Board and Train isn't for every dog. I do not take
dogs with Separation Anxiety, serious aggression,
"outside dogs," or bonded pairs.
I only accept one Board and Train dog at a time, so
advanced reservations are important.
Give me a call (615-584-2940) and we'll talk.
I enjoy doing Board and Trains
because it's fascinating to have
extended amounts of time getting
into what a dog enjoys and will
work for. I have a set format
that I follow, based on the dog's
particular needs. I use Pat
Miller's "The Power of Positive
Dog Training" and Leslie
McDevitt's "Control Unleashed"
as my guides. One meal is
devoted to learning new stuff and
the other meal is devoted to
review. In addition, I have one
long exercise walk or play session
in which we work on training the
dog using toys as treats.
I'm also blessed to live in a wonderful
neighborhood where guest dogs can
meet my neighbors and be exposed to
all kinds of amazing experiences to
help them learn to cope with fears and
apprehensions. We even have time to
say hello to visiting NES crews...(who
drive around in scary trucks, but are
usually more than happy to greet a
willing dog).
